Two courses in the history of music which will add to the students understanding  and appreciation of the field of music.  These courses will build the background knowledge necessary to teach students to appreciate the Western music of the past 1500 years.  We hope this course will lead to more attendance of live concerts, more purchasing of recordings and maybe even continuing with lessons into their adult lives.  Attendance at evening concerts at Crane will be highly recommended and extra credit will be awarded to those students who do put forth the effort to go out and support live music.  There will be written tests and listening tests for each of the following chapters.  Listening  to music from each time period is required and will be tested.
