Musicality 2014

Musicality was held on September 27th at the Parishville Fireman's Hall/Field. This was the third year for the fundraising event promoted by tenth grader Amanda Mason. The proceeds from this event will go to the PHCS music program.

Musicality 2014

Amanda Mason plans to raise money for her schools music program and provide entertainment for the community with Musicality 2014.

This will be her third year offering her program. Musicality 2012 and 2013 were successful in raising over $3000 in cash and musical instrument repair kits for the school. She is working hard to make this year’s program a success. Amanda J. Mason said she really enjoys all types of music. This year she attended SUNY Potsdam’s Crane summer youth camp. She came away invigorated and motivated to share her love of music with her community. “Music is the most important thing in my life,” she says. “Budget cuts are scary, I don’t know what we would do without our music programs. So many would lose if the programs are cut. This event is my service to my school and community to keep the music in our school system with as much funding as possible so the students can have a quality educational experience.”

History of American Music Syllabus

The structure of this course will be based on a timeline of American history that focuses on the cultural events of an era and the resultant musical output. Students will follow the course of history in reverse, from today to the jazz era. Then we will move to the opposite end of the timeline from African drumming to slavery in the United States and up to the jazz era. Jazz represents a definitively American genre of music and will thus serve as the focus of our culminating project.

Musicality 2013

Amanda Mason started Musicality last year to raise money for PHCS' music department. Since last year was a success Amanda decided to hold it again this year. Musicality 2013 was held on Saturday September 28 from 10am-6pm. Over 100 people came to support Amanda and her cause. Bake sales, face painting, Rosie's Hawg Dogs, silent auctions, novelties and lots of music happened throughout the day. Performances included: Richard Wickwire, Kathy MacKay, Jack Kelleys Little Big Band, Sin Wagon, Northbound, Bruce Dewey, Rebecca Thompson/Trio, Lori White and Lori Knowles, and Amanda herself.

Musicality 2013!

Amanda Mason plans to raise money for the school's music program and provide entertainment for the community with a "Musicality" event. This will be the second year for her program. Musicality 2012 was successful in raising $2000.00 in cash and repair kits, for The Parishville Hopkinton Central School music program.
