2015-16 PRELIMINARY BUDGET WORK

Mr. Saiff informed the Board of preliminary figures for the 2015-2016 budget. He noted that this particular budget year has been well publicized due to the Governor’s reforms and proposals. While there was very little to work with in terms of a Governor’s or Legislator’s budget run, Mr. Saiff indicated he and Business Manager M. Robinson drafted a budget utilizing amounts from the 2014-2015 adopted budget. Mr. Saiff stated the handout he provided proposed a budget based upon estimated expenditures, no increase in state aid, and a low tax levy.

The Board also received information regarding anticipated increases/decreases to the school budget broken down by components, as well as projections for the 2015-2016 tax levy. Mr. Saiff noted the student population has decreased steadily in the past ten years, which has had a moderate effect on state aid the District receives. Mr. Saiff stated the budget was in an early stage of development, and that he and M. Robinson would continue to calculate expenditures and revenues as more information became available.
