Middle School ICU Program Info

Power of ICU LogoDear Parents,

This year, our 7th and 8th grade middle school students will be expected to complete all assignments. While traditionally we are diligent in retrieving assignments from students, this year we will work to provide more support to further student success.  This is one portion of a larger goal to create students who are more engaged in their own learning and educational success.

The Middle School Team, including myself, view this approach as a way to change the conversation around assignments, moving them from being about completion to being about student success. In a typical middle school, when students do not hand in work, they are many times “let off the hook”, meaning they cannot participate in the day’s lesson or a specific activity. This leads to gaps in proficiency and students falling behind.

PHCS Hurricane Relief Competition

Each classroom will be competing to collect as many dollars or as much spare change as possible to provide hurricane/disaster relief.  Any amount donated would be greatly appreciated!

Collection will take place from September 11-September 22, 2017.

This is a great opportunity to encourage students to develop a spirit of giving and generosity and to understand that “Other People Matter,” the foundation of the Positivity Project.

School Budget Re-Vote: June 16, 2015, 1pm until 8pm

School Budget Re-Vote: June 16, 2015 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Auditorium

Dear Parents and Residents,

As you may know, on May 19th, the voters of the school district voted 88-79 in favor of the proposed school budget. However, the close margin of approval failed to meet the 60% approval rate that is mandated under the State’s “Tax Cap” law. As such, the school district was left with two options. The first option would be moving the district directly to a contingent budget that would maintain the same tax levy amount as in the 2014-2015 school budget. The second option is to return to the public for a second vote. At a special Budget Meeting of the Board of Education on May 28th, the Board approved a second vote on the proposed 2015-2016 School District budget, in an effort to maintain the excellent educational programs here at the school, and to place the school in a positive financial direction that ensures our future.

June 2015 Examination Schedule

Students in grades 7 – 12 only come to school if they have a test on these days.

Yearbooks Needed

PHCS is part of a grant that is digitizing yearbooks from each school in our BOCES district. We have been able to gather all of our published yearbooks except a clean copy of 1961, 1962 and 1977.  If anyone has a copy of these particular years that we could borrow it would be greatly appreciated. When all the years have been scanned in the school will have an announcement on our webpage letting everyone know. Please call Irene Sinclair (School Librarian) at school, 265-4642 ext. #1 if you have any questions or know where we could get copies.

PHCS Follies Presents "The Wizard of Oz" This Weekend

The PHCS Follies are proud to present this year's musical, The Wizard of Oz.  Students in grades 3-12 have been working hard since September on all aspects of the show. Bring the family and come take a journey down the yellow brick road with Dorothy, the Scarecrow, Tinman, the Lion and, of course, Toto. The beloved classic will be presented on December 5th and 6th at 7pm. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students.
