SAT / ACT Announcement
College Entrance Exams are required by many Colleges and Universities. Check out the SAT at www.collegeboard.com and the ACT at www.actstudent.org . Clarkson University and BOCES have SAT prep classes. More information on these prep courses is available in the Guidance Office, by emailing Clarkson at Testprep@clarkson.edu or by going to their website www.clarkson.edu/testprep . PHCS math and English teachers are also available most Mondays –Thursdays from 2:30 -3:10 to help with SAT/ACT prep.
What are the most important differences? The SAT is better known on the East
Coast while the ACT is more popular in the South and West, but most schools
accept either. The SAT has a required Writing component and the ACT has an
optional Writing section. The ACT is shorter and is based on skills
measurement: English, Math, Reading, and Science. The SAT is longer (about 5
hours) and concentrates on reasoning skills in Mathematics and English.
