Teaching is the Core: Assessment Audit Summary and Action Plan

Yearbooks Needed

PHCS is part of a grant that is digitizing yearbooks from each school in our BOCES district. We have been able to gather all of our published yearbooks except a clean copy of 1961, 1962 and 1977.  If anyone has a copy of these particular years that we could borrow it would be greatly appreciated. When all the years have been scanned in the school will have an announcement on our webpage letting everyone know. Please call Irene Sinclair (School Librarian) at school, 265-4642 ext. #1 if you have any questions or know where we could get copies.

Musicality 2014

Amanda Mason plans to raise money for her schools music program and provide entertainment for the community with Musicality 2014.

This will be her third year offering her program. Musicality 2012 and 2013 were successful in raising over $3000 in cash and musical instrument repair kits for the school. She is working hard to make this year’s program a success. Amanda J. Mason said she really enjoys all types of music. This year she attended SUNY Potsdam’s Crane summer youth camp. She came away invigorated and motivated to share her love of music with her community. “Music is the most important thing in my life,” she says. “Budget cuts are scary, I don’t know what we would do without our music programs. So many would lose if the programs are cut. This event is my service to my school and community to keep the music in our school system with as much funding as possible so the students can have a quality educational experience.”

Prom 2014

The PHCS Junior Class held prom at Cheel on May 17th!  The theme was "Gatsby" and was a fitting theme since the class just finished reading The Great Gatsby in Mrs. VanLeuven's English class. Decorations included quotes from the book, 1920's silhouettes, and a lot of gold! Duke and Duchess were Charlie Anderson and Sam Stone, Prince and Princess were Zach Armstrong and Racheal Remington, and King and Queen were Connor Sullivan and Mary Coventry. Students enjoyed a dessert bar, a photo booth, dancing, and of course good company!

2014-15 School Year Calendar

OK, I have chosen my college… so what do I do now?

Once admitted students have accepted an offer of admission, (by paying their deposit) they will need to register for new student orientation at their college. This (often two-day) event allows incoming freshmen to meet with an academic adviser, create their class schedule, get their VCU ID card and meet other incoming students. Overnight accommodations are often provided on-campus in a residence hall for students, if it is a two day event (even if a student plans on living at home, they should stay overnight for this one thing! Parents and guests will need to make separate overnight arrangements.
