Elementary Messaging System

We have set-up a Remind Group messaging system for parents to receive text messages regarding emergency school closings and special school events. It is as simple as texting an access code to a specific number and it only takes a minute to sign-up! Just text the message @8h7d6 to the number 81010 or use the steps outlined on the included “Directions Page” to sign up for updates from Ms. Reid.

Guidelines for Cold Weather Safety

Dear Parishville-Hopkinton Parents and Guardians:

As we experience these extremely cold temperatures, it is a good time to review cold weather safety with your children. Extra care is needed when the temperature drops (especially with the impact of wind chill factor) particularly in younger children to be sure that frostbite does not occur. Below are some cold weather safety guidelines developed by Dr. Cynthia Devore, NYSSHSC Medical Director Consultant:

Make sure all children including teenagers have appropriate outerwear every day:

  • Warm jackets, hats, scarves, boots, and an extra pair of gloves in their pockets will protect them during extremely cold temperatures.
  • Develop an emergency plan and review it with your children in case you are not home either before or after school. If a bus is delayed, they need to know where, when, and how to get help.
  • Tell your child that if you are not home while they are waiting outside for the bus, how long they may wait outside, where to go in the event the bus is delayed, and explain the dangers and risks of extended exposure to extreme weather.

PHCS Hurricane Relief Competition

Each classroom will be competing to collect as many dollars or as much spare change as possible to provide hurricane/disaster relief.  Any amount donated would be greatly appreciated!

Collection will take place from September 11-September 22, 2017.

This is a great opportunity to encourage students to develop a spirit of giving and generosity and to understand that “Other People Matter,” the foundation of the Positivity Project.
